What is Pixel Detective?

Pixel Detective is a pixel art detective game: in the square, the park, the market, at school, on the beach, at the museum, at the station or at a party, someone got up to mischief, like stealing the baker's cake or drawing a moustache on a painting. The clues arrive one at a time: look at the crowd through the magnifying glass, mark the people you ruled out with a ✕ and accuse the culprit using as few clues as possible, because every extra clue and every wrong accusation costs a star. Every day there's the Case of the day, the same for everyone in the world and great to share with friends, and in Free investigations the cases get harder and harder. How to play

• Read the case question and the first clue: the culprit is one of the people in the scene.
• Tap or click someone to look at them through the magnifying glass, then choose «Accuse!». With a keyboard, remote or controller, move the cursor with the arrows and press Enter, OK or A.
• Mark the people you ruled out with a ✕: press and hold with your finger, right-click, the ✕ button, the X key or the B button on the controller.
• Ask for a new clue when you need it (💡, the I key or the Y button): there are 5 and together they point to just one person. «Near» means the part of the scene around that spot; left and right are as you see them on the screen.
• Stars: 1 or 2 clues = 3 stars, 3 clues = 2 stars, 4 or 5 = 1 star; every wrong accusation takes away a star and after 3 mistakes the case is failed.
• Case of the day: the same for everyone, only the first try counts (if you reload you continue the same case); new case at midnight UTC. Free investigations: harder and harder cases until you get one wrong; the record is your total stars on this device. Share only prepares a short text, no data is sent.

Tips

• After every clue, mark the people who don't fit with a ✕ straight away: in the end only one suspect is left.
• Use the magnifying glass: glasses, shirt patterns and things people are holding are easier to see up close.
• With two suspects left you can risk an accusation to get 3 stars, but if you're wrong you lose a star.
